Choice of compound:
The soft compound will be softer, more tolerant and smoother underfoot. However, because it is a soft compound, it will not last as long and tends to wear out more quickly.
The intermediate compound will increase the longevity of the tire, extending the time period between tire changes. However, it won't be as forgiving underfoot and will have a more visible "edge" when carving.
